--- title: Revenue share for Shopify App Store developers description: >- Learn about how revenue share works for developers with apps on the Shopify App Store. source_url: html: 'https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/launch/distribution/revenue-share' md: 'https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/launch/distribution/revenue-share.md' --- # Revenue share for Shopify App Store developers Shopify's revenue share model is designed to help app developers grow. You keep 100% of your first $1,000,000 USD in gross app revenue earned from January 1, 2025, and 85% of earnings above that. All billing is subject to a 2.9% processing fee and applicable sales tax. *** ## Get started To access the revenue share plan, you need to register with the Shopify App Store for a one-time fee of $19 USD per Partner account. If you distribute your app to multiple merchants, you need to publish it through the Shopify App Store. Registration isn't required if you're only developing custom apps for a single merchant. To register: 1. Go to [**Partner Dashboard**](https://partners.shopify.com/current/stores) > [**Settings**](https://partners.shopify.com/current/settings). 2. In the **App Store registration** section, click **Register now**. 3. On the **Register for the Shopify App Store** page, enter the following information: * Whether your account is owned by an individual or an entity. * Whether you have any [Associated Developer Accounts](https://help.shopify.com/partners/dashboard/associated-accounts), and the owner email address and business name for each. 4. Review your information to verify that it adheres to the Associated Developer Accounts requirements in the [Partner Program Agreement](https://www.shopify.com/partners/terms). 5. Click **Add payment method** and enter your payment information. 6. Click **Register**. *** ## Associated Developer Accounts During registration, you must link all of your Associated Developer Accounts to ensure revenue is tracked correctly. An Associated Developer Account is any Partner account that you or an associated developer has registered with Shopify. Failing to register is a violation of the [Partner Program Agreement](https://www.shopify.com/partners/terms). Your gross app revenue is calculated across all Associated Developer Accounts, so all related accounts count toward the $1,000,000 USD threshold. Even though revenue is calculated together, payouts are still made separately at the Partner account level. Learn more about [Associated Developer Accounts](https://help.shopify.com/en/partners/dashboard/associated-accounts) on the Shopify Help Center. *** ## How revenue share works Revenue share is calculated based on gross sales, not net sales. Refunds aren't taken into account. If you earn revenue across multiple apps, revenue share is based on the cumulative revenue of all your apps, including apps developed under any [Associated Developer Accounts](#associated-developer-accounts). Revenue share is still paid out separately at the Partner account level. ### Standard rates For developers with annual app earnings under $20,000,000 USD per year, these standard rates apply: | Lifetime gross app revenue | Revenue share rate | | - | - | | First $1,000,000 USD | 0% | | Above $1,000,000 USD | 15% | Developers who earned $20,000,000 USD or more through the Shopify App Store in the prior calendar year, or who have a gross company revenue of $100,000,000 USD or more, pay 15% revenue share on all app revenue. The 0% rate on the first $1,000,000 USD doesn't apply. Eligibility is reassessed annually. Shopify will reach out to confirm eligibility as needed. ### Theme Store and referral revenue Other income, such as from the Shopify Theme Store or referrals, isn't included in Shopify App Store revenue share calculations. Fees and taxes are charged separately from revenue share. Earnings in some countries or regions are subject to additional [regulatory operating fees](https://help.shopify.com/en/partners/how-to-earn#regulatory-operating-fee). *** ## View your earnings and fees You can review your earnings and fees in the [Partner Dashboard](https://partners.shopify.com/current/stores): * [View app charges for a specific store](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/launch/billing/view-charges-earnings#store-page) * [View app charges in the Payouts page](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/launch/billing/view-charges-earnings#payouts-page) * [View app charges from the App history page](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/launch/billing/view-charges-earnings#app-history-page) * [Download a CSV of your payouts](https://help.shopify.com/partners/getting-started/getting-paid#export-your-payouts) * [Review the Shopify fees invoice](https://help.shopify.com/partners/getting-started/getting-paid#shopify-fees-invoice) You can also use the [Shopify Partner API](https://shopify.dev/api/partner) to programmatically access the data found in your Partner Dashboard. *** ## Additional terms For additional terms related to earning money in the Shopify App Store, refer to [Shopify Partner earnings](https://help.shopify.com/partners/how-to-earn#shopify-apps) and the [Partner Program Agreement](https://www.shopify.com/partners/terms). ***
